Big Bang Press is a fledgling publishing company representing emerging talent from within fan writing communities. They aim to provide fanfiction authors with opportunities to transition into publishing original works.
In order to publish their first three books, they ran a Kickstarter campaign in late 2013. A few weeks before their campaign began, I was asked to create a website for their company, primarily as a supplement to their Kickstarter page.
After full funding, the first book went into editing and printing phase. Typography for cover, ecommerce, social media images.
The ultimate goal of the website was to get users to donate to the Kickstarter, so call to actions for donations throughout the site were essential. Other than that, there were three key sections that were to be the focus:
- Authors: a page for each author to include their bios, links to social media profiles, and updates throughout the campaign.
- Books: a page for each book showcasing its art, along with summaries and prominent links to book excerpts.
- Company: a section that must include a thorough mission statement and FAQ, along with a continually updated press page.
By the time the campaign came to a close, Big Bang Press had been more than fully funded, blowing past the initial goal of $40,000 by 134%.
Ecommerce Product Page
Once the company’s first book was complete, I redesigned the book information page, expanding it with further functionality and information. In order to take pre-orders and sales, I customized and integrated an ecommerce system via Shopify.
